Brave Heart Award

Standard

A lovely person over at Turkey Bone Heaven nominated me a number of weeks ago for a Brave Heart award.

Woah, huge picture.

I was genuinely flattered and believe wholeheartedly in the statement. Please forgive me, because I do not follow enough survivor blogs to nominate 12 other blogs – however, I have done my best with the instructions I was given! (Edit: I have just pressed the wrong button and now I’m not sure which blogs I’ve commented on – apologies if your blog doesn’t apply?!)

First things first, 12 questions:

1.Tell us a little bit about your blog. Who designed it?

My blog is my way of documenting all the highs and lows of my messy but beautiful life. It is very basic because I don’t understand WordPress, and it’s design is just a standard one I picked! But it is rather pretty and that makes me feel happy when I see my blog 🙂

2. What is the title and description of your blog?

The title of my blog is “Understanding Me and Her”. It covers my struggles with my childhood of abuse, my attachment issues and my eating disorder.

3. Who is your intended audience?

I don’t think I had an intended audience – I just wanted a place to contain all my emotions and to document my therapy journey.

4. How did you come up with the title of your blog?

Because it is just so very true – my life is all about understanding myself and my ‘inner child’, Little.

5. Give us an interesting fun fact about your blog.

Ummm… someone once found my blog by Google searching “I think I’m in love with a giraffe”..?

6. What other blogs do you own and what makes them alike?

I don’t have any other blogs – I barely have enough time for this one!

7. Do you have any unique talents or hobbies?

Nothing unique – but I love reading, playing the piano, and dawdles through the countryside.

8. How can we contact you or find out more about your blog?

Just comment 🙂

9. What can we expect from you in the future?

More of the same – rantings, moanings, reflections..!

10. What can readers who enjoy your blog do to help make your blog more successful?

I’m happy with my blog as it is – but comments are always lovely 🙂

11. Do you have any tips for readers or advice for other writers/bloggers?

Be true to your soul.

12. Before you go, could you share a snippet from your blog?

I couldn’t pick a snippet, so I’ll post a quote I posted recently that touches my heart.

For beautiful eyes, look for good in others.
For beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness.
And for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone. (Audrey Hepburn)

The blogs I nominate are as follows:

1. Shedding Light on Darkness.

2. Crazy in the Coconut.

3. Letters to a Rapist.

4. Broken but Being Repaired.

5. One Woman.

And the instructions:

Rules for accepting the Award

1. Thank the person whom nominated you.

2. Post a comment on your nominees blog (with a link back to your Brave Heart Award Results), notifying them that they have been nominated for The Brave Heart Award with the  Quote below.

Stand Strong You Are Not Alone

I call you a survivor, because that is what you are. There are days when you don’t feel like a survivor and there are days when the memories trigger your past and it feels like you are loosing the fight – but you are not. Take the past and heal with it. You are strong. I want you to know that the abuse was not your fault. It does not matter what age it happened. You did not deserve it, you did not cause it, and you did not bring it on yourself. You own no shame, guilt, or remorse. In your life, you have faced many demons but look around you and you will see there is hope, and there is beauty. You are beautiful, You are loved, there is hope. You deserve to be loved and treated with respect. You deserve peace and joy in your life. Don’t settle for anything less than that. God has plans for you. Your future does not have to be dictated by your past.

Each step you take you are not alone.

Stand Strong.
