“Healing is a matter of time, but it is sometimes also a matter of opportunity.” Hippocrates

This is a blog, but really I hope it can be a diary, a messy little record of my life and the challenges and triumphs.

I am a 20something female, living in my favourite part of the world. I love beautiful views, being up high, and feeling the wind whip my hair around. I should have been a cat in my previous life – I love being warm, comfortable, and having my hair or back stroked. I’m fascinated by all things musical and creative, I’m not at all sporty and my knowledge of geography is rubbish. I love anything owl, fox or rabbit related, and being warm under my duvet. I love stationery, lists, and pictures that make me think. I read like it’s an addiction.

I also have mental health issues, in part caused by a difficult childhood. I am walking down the rocky road of therapy (not as tasty as the original, but just as healing?), encountering all sorts of marshmallows and biscuit crumbs along the way – focussing primarily on healing from attachment disorder, trauma issues, self harm and an eating disorder. It seems that therapy is as much about falling apart as it is falling together, but my seatbelt is normally fastened.

So that’s the ‘me’ – who’s the her? She’s called Little, and she’s my inner child. She holds most of the pain, and this blog documents my journey of exploration, to find ways to help her heal from what happened when we were little. It’s painful and overwhelming, but so immensely worthwhile.

Have a look around, and I’d love to hear from you.

    • No, thank you – I have to read your blog in sections otherwise it blows my away! You are extremely eloquent and I can really relate to so much you write.

Congrats on being freshly pressed, too 🙂

  1. Thank you for following “A Way With Words.” My joy in writing is made more complete when people read what I’ve written, and even more as they respond.

I write primarily on faith and mental illness, though am known to dabble in other subjects, stories, and even the occasional poem. If you have any requests, please contact me.

I appreciate what you have going here on your blog. May you be blessed as you are a blessing to others.

  2. Just found your blog and now following. I love your Blog name and the meaning behind it. I appreciate how hard, but therapeutic it most be to write about your therapy and allowing us to read it. Very brave. Thank you for sharing. Stephen.

  3. Hi, I wanted to apologize. Last year, I know I told you I would make felted foxes for you, and I never did. I… fell in a pit of darkness, stayed there for months. It is no excuse, but I really did not have the energy to do anything beside hurting and trying to survive. So I wanted to say I am sorry, I regret having disappeared on you.

  4. Looking forward to reading more of your blog. 🙂 Also a female in my 20s; I deal with attachment issues, complex trauma, BPD, and Bipolar II, and I think the blog world is amazing for connecting with others who struggle with similar things.

  5. Hello right back at you!
